ShopSite (www.shopsite.com) is award-winning shopping cart software for small to medium size businesses. ShopSite recently released version 10SP1 which includes many new features that make it even easier to run an online store. I asked Guy Pribyl five questions about the new release.
Mike: Hi Guy. Before I ask about SP10, please tell us about yourself and your role at ShopSite.
Guy: I am the director of account management here at ShopSite. I work with all of our resellers and The Certified ShopSite Designers.
Mike: Online merchants have to continually adapt and grow with the online shopping landscape. How can ShopSite help them increase sales and grow their business?
Guy: ShopSite is an employee owned shopping cart software company. We are committed to providing the best to help our customers successfully sell their products on the web. Most of our employees are software developers. These guys never stop adding functionality that our customers ask for. When we finish a new version they begin immediately going over suggested enhancements planning ahead for the next release/update. We are very mindful to make sure the new version does not break the old one. The upgrade must be seamless, easy to use, and search engine friendly.
Mike: The latest release, 10SP1, added many new features to ShopSite. Which of them do you consider most important, or most innovative compared to other shopping cart software?
Guy: This is a hard question. ShopSite 10 sp1 has so much. I love the new back office navigation that makes it much quicker and easier to manage my store. The multiple image upload is a great part of that. I love the 9 new template themes. They are beautiful and I am excited to create a site using one of them. Mike it is so hard, maybe I would say the New Store Navigation Menus these allow a non-html trained merchant to implement menus that explode out and down. There is just a lot in this new version. Check it out at http://shopsite.com/help/10.1/en-US/new-features.html.
Mike: Can ShopSite merchants with older versions upgrade to the latest version? What’s involved in an upgrade?
Guy: There is no charge for this update if you are using version 10 already. The new code needs to be installed on the server. This is done usually by a system admin. The standard upgrade prices apply for those on previous versions. Go to http://shopsite.com/upgrade_pricing.html for more on that.
Mike: There are always planned enhancements that don’t make it to the current release. Can you reveal any enhancements that are candidates for the next release?
Guy: I am a sales guy. Development keeps our sales staff in the dark until the next release is near. Otherwise I know that I would be happy to tell you all about it. Just so you know “Now” is a great time to let us know what you would like to see. I can’t promise your new feature will be included. We usually judge the enhancement requests by the volume of customers asking for it.
Mike: What’s the best way for store owners to suggest enhancements?
Guy: Visit http://www.shopsite.com/help/contact/enhancement.html.
Mike: Thanks Guy!
